Visit and explore the southern part of Myanmar with different types of cultures, sightseeing places and make relaxation during your boat trip to the magnificent islands & beaches.

Day 1: Yangon Arrival & Full Day City Tour

 

Arrival at Yangon International airport and your guide will greet you at the arrivals hall.

 

Then start the Yangon sightseeing tour with a visit of Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda, featuring a huge reclining Buddha image. Next, drive along Kandawgyi (Royal) Lake and on the east side make a brief stop to take some great photos across the lake towards the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda.

 

Drive through the heart of downtown Yangon, and enjoy some of the best that colonial-style Yangon has to offer such as the High Court building and The Government Telegraph Office on Pansodan street; both were built in the 1920s & 1930s.

 

Afternoon, continue with a visit to Bogyoke Aung San (Scott) Market (closed on Mondays and public holidays) to discover Myanmar's wide range of handicrafts. No doubt you will find your preferred item to take back home as a remembrance of your trip to The Golden Land.

 

Finally, continue to the Shwedagon Pagoda, the highlight of any visit to Yangon. Towering over the city, this pagoda is the most sacred spot in the country, built to house eight hair relics of the Buddha. The Shwedagon and surrounding shrines are at their most beautiful during the sunset hour, as the golden stupa reflects the changing colors of twilight.

Day 2: Yangon – Bago – Kyaik Hti Yoe

 

Breakfast at your hotel. Pick-up in the morning from your hotel for the drive to BAGO (84 km – 1½h), was founded in the year 825 by two Mon princes. The town, a former ancient port, and capital is situated about 84 km (approximately 2 hours driving time) from Yangon.

 

Visit an enormous 55-meter long reclining SHWE THA LYAUNG Buddha, which is among one of the country's most impressive images. The tour continues then to the over a thousand years old SHWEMAWDAW PAGODA with its spire.

 

After sightseeing in Bago drive heading to one of Myanmar's landmarks, KYAIK HTI YOE the 'Golden Rock' is a huge boulder completely covered by gold leaf and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff.

Upon reach to the KIN PUN 'base camp' at the foot of the hills, to change our mode of transport to an open truck. The ride is shared with local pilgrimage makers for the next 11km to YATHETAUNG base camp. And then proceed to trails to the GOLDEN ROCK on top of the mountain range.

 

In the late evening enjoy impressive views over the surrounding jungle and a beautiful sunset.

Day 3: Kyaik Hti Yoe – Hpa An (B)

 

We suggest waking up early to enjoy beautiful sunrise views and a quiet morning stroll from the summit.

Breakfast will be served at the hotel. And descending back to the Kinpun base camp.

 

And heading to HPA-AN (120 km – 3 ½ hours), the capital of the Kayin State, surrounded by limestone cliffs, wide lake and mountain ranges. En-route stops in THATON, one of the former capital of Mon Kingdom.

 

Continue then to HPA-AN stopping en-route at BA-YIN-NYI cave with stunning wall carvings and numerous intiricate Buddha image can be seen everywhere inside the cave and shallow KAW-GOON cave is a natural lime stone cave and measures 200 ft height and 300 ft length which also known as ‘Cave of the Ten Thousand Buddhas’. Inside walk through the cave, witness more than thousands of votive tablets of Lord Buddha.

 

Upon arrival in Hpa An transfer to the hotel. In the evening enjoy the sunset while you're served drinks at SHWEYINMYAWPAGODA at the bank of THANLWIN river.

Day 4: Hpa An – Mawlamyaing

 

Breakfast will be served at the hotel. In the morning stroll through the CENTRAL MARKET to get the feel for Hpa-An’s local life.

 

And visit highlight sightseeing including KYAUK KALATT, standalone rock islet in the middle of a small lake; the LUMBINI GARDEN, home of one thousand Buddha images with the majestic Mount Zwekabin as its backdrop.

 

In the afternoon drive to jetty and onboard a river ferry boat for the journey on the majestic THANLWIN River to the port town of MAWLAMAYING, (capital of Mon state). The trip takes approx. 4 hours downriver and enjoy the riverside local life and breathtaking scenery.

 

In the evening arrive at Mawlamyaing and transfer to the hotel.

Day 5: Excursion to Bilu Island and sightseeing in Mawlamyaing

 

Breakfast will be served at hotel. Mawlamyaing, an attractive town with much leafy, a tropical area with hills at one side with a golden pagoda on top and the sea view on the other. Mawlamyaing is the capital city of Mon State, holding the number-fourth largest city in Myanmar with a population of over 300,000 people. The atmosphere with post-colonial decay is more palpable than in the developing cities like Yangon and Mandalay.

 

In the morning, visit the bustling and busy Zyegyi Market of the city. Walkthrough downtown streets stopping to visit the historic and old colonial-era building, mosque and other landmarks of the city.

And visit BILU Island with small villages famous for local handy workshops producing tobacco pipe, local stone tablets, wood crafts, etc.

 

The villages are the perfect place to explore local lifestyles and to see the making of traditional handicrafts such as pipes, small toys, walking sticks, and chalkboards. Visit small wood workshops, where typical Myanmar walking sticks, wooden pipes and pens are produced.

 

After visiting the island in the afternoon back to Mawlamyaing.

 

And continue sightseeing MAHA MUNI PAGODA, a major temple site in Myanmar; SEINDON MIBAYA KYAUNG, where King Mindon’s queen sought refuge where unique wood carving walls and ancient statues can be seen.

 

In the late afternoon to enjoy the sunset from KYAIKTHANLAN PAGODA, known as the Kipling Pagoda.

Day 6: Mawlamyaing – an Overland trip to Ye & Dawei

 

Breakfast will be served at the hotel. In the morning start overland journeys to the Dawei (368 km – 7 hours). And shortstop to visit the world's largest reclining Buddha of Win Sein Tawya monastery.

 

Drive pass rubber plantation to THANBYUZAYA and visit a DEATH RAILWAY MUSEUM with a small locomotive of bygone days to commemorate the start point of the tragic railway, and an Allied War Cemetery, resting-place for over 3,500 Allied POWs (Prisoners of War). And continue the journey takes on a narrow, winding and bumpy road through the Southern plateau.

 

Passage through dotted white and golden pagodas over the hills.

 

Upon arrival YE, visit Ko Yin Lay monastery and Mon style temples, walk up a bit further to the giant statue to see the panoramic view over the surrounding area in the background.

 

The journey through unpaved roads and cross a stunning mountain range which divides the Mon and the Tanintharyi State.

 

In the late afternoon, transfer to your hotel in Dawei, the rest of the day will be at free leisure.

Day 7: Full day sightseeing in Dawei

 

Breakfast will be served at the hotel. Dawei, the capital of the Thanitaryi division in the south of Myanmar. It is also known as Tavoy in colonial times. Dawei was one of the first cities settled by the English after the first of the three Anglo-Burmese wars, as a result, the towns have a long history and interesting architecture building of the colonial era.

 

In the morning, explore the downtown of colonial building area with standing elegantly. Dawei owns the wealth architecture of old colonial buildings and old wooden houses. And nowadays there have many modern and new buildings arising among old houses.

 

Visitors can enjoy a walking tour of downtown, where can witnesses of these picturesque buildings.

Then stroll through the main busy market of Dawei were selling a variety of products. And then have an opportunity to visit local family run business of clay pottery, how to produce local hand-made pottery. And then visit one of the family-owned cashew nut business how workers will process to peel one nut. (The local run business may be closed without prior notice)

 

Visit ShweTaungSar Pagoda and PayaGyi museum where own collections of bronze coins, vases, portraits, and large wooden ancient Buddha images are displayed. In the evening drive to Shwe Thar lyaung reclining Buddha which 74 meters long and 21 meter high is the biggest in Myanmar until the recently built Win Sein Taw Ya Buddha image in Mawlamyine. And proceed to the viewpoint of SAPAR TAUNG to enjoy impressive and panoramic views over the surrounding city and a breathtaking sunset.

Day 8: Explore hidden village and beach

 

Breakfast will be served at the hotel. In the early morning visit to the bustling riverside market where sell a variety of fresh fishes. And explore a fishing village of Tezit where located southwest of Dawei.

 

Drive passed through rice fields and rural villages in Dawei Peninsula to reach Laung Lone small town. This drive will take around one hour to reach the starting point for walking journey to Tezit fishing village.

 

And start walking journey towards Tezit fishing village, the route will take your about 2hours through the jungle and small mountains to reach the fishing village. (Please importantly note that in these days the route to village much improved and local people only using by motorbike or car to reach the village.)

 

On arrival at the village learn and explore the daily lifestyle of the local fishing village in the Dawei peninsula.

And explore the daily life of local people in a rural fishing village and learn their local lifestyle. After visiting, proceed the way back to Laung Lone and drive to Maung Magan beach. And enjoy the sunset in Andman sea sitting and enjoying your drink (own account). After enjoying directly drive back to Dawei.

Day 9: Dawei – An Overland trip to Pu-law and Myeik

 

Breakfast will be served at the hotel. In the morning, proceeds overland trip (245km – 6 hours) to MYEIK. The journey takes a narrow and winding and bumpy road through the Southern plateau.

 

On the way stop at Palaw where located between Dawei and Myeik, a small charming town.

And then continue to drive to MYEIK cross over the rolling hills of the Southern Myanmar, breathtaking sights and spectacular landscape of pure nature.

 

Along the way have the experience to explore the serene scenery of paddy fields, hidden small towns, rural villages and daily local lifestyles.

 

In the late afternoon, arrive in Myeik and transfer to the hotel for check-in and refreshments. The rest of the day will be your own leisure.

Day 10: Myeik Sightseeing

 

Breakfast will be served at the hotel. Myeik is the busy port and important for the center of fishing industries as well as the dried-fish factory, bird’s nests collecting and rubber plantations. The city offers to see with its elegant wooden architecture and busy streets. It is also famous for Myanmar pearls harvested by the Salon or Moken people (sea gypsies).

 

Visit the city center and walk around to explore the lively and colorful life of the rural local people. And stroll through the busy and bustling market of Myeik. Enjoy exploring the busy and bustling market and meeting the friendly locals.

 

Walk further on BO GYOKE street pass through old colonial-era buildings compare with recently constructed modern buildings. Visit Royal Pearl Trading shop where the building has been own same family for over 150 years, there will have a chance to learn about the peal industry and how different pearls are cultivated. (The shop may be closed without prior notice)

 

And then visit the nearly a hundred-year-old monastery and BUU Pagoda (which as the same as BUU pagoda in Bagan). Visit natural bird nest house on the Strand Road and to learn how to produce bird nest.

And next visit a local village to see the area’s other major industry, dried fish.

 

In the evening proceed to the pagoda enjoy the panoramic view and breathtaking sunset over the islands in Andman Sea.

Day 11: Myeik – Scenic boat trip to hidden town Taninthryi

 

Breakfast will be served at the hotel. In the morning explore the beaten path experience to the old colonial trading port of Taninthari (nowadays the hidden small town in Southern Myanmar).

And drive (around 2hours) up a picturesque mountain road to the village of Tagu, located bank of the river. And then board a small wooden boat and cruise down the untouched Taninthari River.

The river trip offers a breathtaking view along the river and fresh breeze refresh while enjoying your boat trip.

 

The legendary town, Tanintharyi, was old harbor town were under the rule of the Siam.

And it was invaded by the British colonial after the First Anglo-Burmese War in 1824. The whole region of Tanintharyi Division was named after this town.

 

Upon arrival take a tour of this ancient town. Visit the old wooden long leg houses show that the area is still famous for teak trading. And walk up to the town Pagoda, enjoy views overlooking the entire area. In the afternoon, drive back to Myeik through the paddy fields and Thatch palm trees area until Myeik. On arrival in Myeik, direct transfer to the hotel and refreshments.

 

The rest of the day will be at free leisure time!

Day 12: Myeik – Yangon departure

 

Breakfast will be served at the hotel. After that balance your time and transfer to Myeik airport for the departure flight to Yangon. Upon arrival at Yangon domestic airport, transfer directly to the International airport terminal for your departure flight.
